Nose to the Ground November 06 Issue
December 03, 2006
Hi

A warm welcome this holiday season to old friends and new subscribers.
I hope you'll find this issue of Nose to the Ground interesting, useful, and fun to read. No article this month, just a warm Christmas greeting, but you'll still find links to past articles in the event you missed one or two.

Not too many places in the USA have escaped some extreme weather in the past few weeks. I hope your holiday travel plans have not or will not be disrupted.

We usually celebrate Thanksgiving close to home but this year travelled down to San Antonio, Texas for the holiday. Enjoyed nice summer-like weather (the temperature here at home had dropped below zero a couple of times during our absence).

Besides seeing the sights in San Antonio we visited the Texas hill country including the town of Bandera, the "Cowboy Capital of the World", at least that's what it says on the coffee mug I purchased.

I also purchased a nice t-shirt in Bandera with horses on it which perhaps borders on the tacky side but I really don't care. It was a fun trip.

One of our horses got loose while we were away. He wandered over to a neighbors and was rewarded with a free meal of hay and a stay in a stall on a very cold night. Wonder if he'd been planning that in advance.
Smart horse!

Not too much in the way of news this time around. Of course I encourage you to visit Your Guide---- as part of your Christmas shopping activity.

Holiday Shopping Tips

If memory serves me right, some online retailers offered free shipping between Thanksgiving and Christmas last year. I haven't found that to be the case this year. However many retailers are offering free shipping on orders over $50 (many do that anyway). Still there's a few incentives out there I can share with you. Still time to take advantage.

The time is getting short for ordering merchandise by regular parcel post if you want to get it in time. Priority mail will do the job through about December 15th, after that UPS or FedEx is your best bet.

Several retailers have bargains for quality metrchandise either through online outlet or closeout which I'll share here. Might be worth a look.

It's been great fun putting this newsletter together again this past year.
I wish all of you -

A Very Merry Christmas!
